OPI New York City Ballet Collection

If you’re an avid reader of my blog, you probably noticed that I prefer bright nail colours, and sparkle.

I was wandering around the mall last weekend and spotted the OPI New York City Ballet collection in a mini set, and decided that the price was worth giving these a try.

OPI New York City Ballet Collection

I’m really not a fan – but only because I’ll just never love sheer polishes. Above, I’ve got Care to Danse on all of my fingers, except my ring finger which has Don’t Touch My Tutu. If you can’t really tell the difference, don’t worry. It looks like that in real life too. The colour change is very subtle between the two.

My favourite part of this whole collection is the sheer glitter called Pirouette My Whistle. It’s a silver sheer glitter, with some hexagonal pieces. I’m definitely going to be purchasing a full size of this. It’s literally the perfect glitter. The hexagonal pieces are sheer and don’t take over your whole nail (which is what I dislike about China Glaze Techno).

The set also came with My Pointe Exactly, but I haven’t been able to try that yet!

I’ve decided that every single polish should come in mini form. It would make my life so much easier!

Essie Play Date

I went to peruse the shelves at Shopper’s Drug Mart the other day, and much to my surprise they had a few new Essie polishes in stock! I settled on one colour (shocker I know!), called Play Date. It’s a beautiful light purple polish, and as seen above, I’ve paired it with Sexy Divide.

Lately my nails have been quite a disaster, which is why you haven’t seen many polish posts. I wish I knew what was going on, but they’re breaking like crazy and just generally thin. It’s awful. I’ve been trying out different nail strengthener’s, and none of them been helping. Sigh.

It’s subscription box time!!!

If you read last month’s post, you will know that I was very unimpressed with the box. First of all, it was super late and there just wasn’t anything inside of it that excited me.

This month, I arrived home from work and my Glossybox was waiting for me at the door. I picked it up and noticed how heavy it was – which was my first indication that it was going to be awesome!

I opened it up and I was amazed at what I found inside:

Glossybox April 2012

Here’s what I received this month:

  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer – Full size!
  • Elizabeth Grant Skin Care Shower Gell – Full size!
  • Wella Brilliance Conditioner
  • Wella Brilliance Treatment
  • Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara
  • PLUS a sample of the Marcelle BB Cream!

The first two products alone made the worth of my box over $40! I haven’t used any of the products yet, but Wella is my current hair care brand so I’m excited to try out this line. It’s made for fine, coloured hair – so hopefully it will give me a little boost.

I’m also very excited to try the sample of the Marcelle BB Cream. I keep passing this over every time I go into Shopper’s Drug Mart and since I already have the Garnier BB Cream I haven’t picked it up.

I was just about ready to cancel my Glossybox, but I think I’ll keep it going, at least for another month!

China Glaze Prismatic Collection

Today I’m going to introduce to you the BEST glitter polish I’ve ever seen.

Well, first I’m going to show you the glitter polish I THOUGHT was the best glitter polish I’ve ever seen.

This is China Glaze – Some Like It Haute

China Glaze Eye Candy Collection Some Like It Haute

It’s basically a dark grey, sparkly amazingness. Like all glitter polishes, it’s gritty, but the colour is beautiful.

This was my holy grail glitter polish, until I laid my eyes on the new Prismatic Collection. I walked into Sally Beauty Supply and I swear the display was calling my name.

Even though I had just changed my polish the night before, I ran home to put on one of the colours.

China Glaze Prismatic Collection Liquid Crystal

This is called Liquid Crystal. It’s a beautiful blue/silver full of multicoloured glitter.

I’m in love.

April 2012 Glymm Box Packaging

Well, my April Glymm box arrived last week. I was originally planning on doing a full review like I had done in March…but there literally wasn’t a single product I was interested in using. I expect that in a monthly box, there’s a million products out there, getting samples isn’t easy and you can’t please everyone!

April 2012 Glymm Box Products

This month’s box included:

  • Lucia No 1 Soap
  • Free Your Mane –  Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Atelier Cologone – Orange Sanguine Fragrance
  • Mai Couture – Social Gloss (Full Size!)
  • $100 Gift Card to NuMe

I’ll probably give the soap a try eventually, and wear the lip gloss over a bright lipstick (it’s a horrendous light nude colour, but who knows, I may love the formula). I’m always afraid of trying new shampoo’s/conditioners. With my bright hair I never know what’s going to strip the colour. This one is sulfate free though, so hopefully it’s not an issue!

One thing I will complain about this month, is the lack of care in my packaging. Last month, the box was nicely wrapped, filled with paper stuffing, product card was nicely placed. This month, my ribbon wasn’t even cut nicely with little to no paper stuffing. It really doesn’t take that much to ensure your products are packaged nicely, and it makes the world of difference.
