Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic Swatch and Review

I think I may have found my new favourite polish! I’d like to introduce you to Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic.

Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic

This is my first Butter London polish – shocker, I know. I was originally avoiding the brand because it’s so expensive, especially in comparison to my beloved China Glaze polishes. I caved. I don’t regret it.

Butter London polishes retail for about $17.00 in Canada, for only 4oz of polish. I purchased mine at Holt Renfrew, but it’s also available at Nail Polish Canada.

This polish had a great formula, and dries quite quickly. After one coat it was opaque, but I went for two coats because I’m a perfectionist. I’ll admit the colour was a bit dull until I added a top coat, but that could just be my own personal preference of liking my nails super shiny. The colour isn’t as bright as my photo makes it out to be, take a look at the edges of my nails and that’s more true to what this colour looks like in real life.

I’m going to try and wear this polish until it starts to chip so I can test it’s staying power. Chips are never usually an issue for me because I change my nails every few days, but I’m sure you’d like to know how long this polish will last you if you’re going to spend $17.00 on it!

Bad Nail Day

Just proof that I’m a normal human, and I’m having a bad nail day!

Easter Egg Nail Design

I was trying out a new image plate full of Easter eggs, and nothing seemed to be working.
This happens to me often when I try a new design, but normally I just start from scratch and do another design. Tonight, I just didn’t have it in me to my paint my nails all over again.
…and that’s okay.

March 2012 Glymm Box

March 2012 Glymm Box

I recieved my March 2012 Glymm box earlier this week, and I’ve fallen in love! This was my first month of Glymm and I already can’t wait until next month!

Before I blogged about it, I actually wanted to use the products so I give you a little review. Here’s what I received this month:

Burt's Bees Body Cream

Burt’s Bees Nourishing Body Lotion (2 Samples)

I received 2 small samples of the Burt’s Bees Nourishing Body Lotion. Honestly, it’s nothing special – and I don’t think anything will ever replace my Bath and Body Works Shea Cashmere & Silk Lotion. Ever.

NuMe Feather Hair Extensions

NuMe Envy Feather Hair Extensions (3 Extensions in the pack)

I’ve tried a few feather hair extensions over the past 6 months, and these have become my favourite. Most of the ones I’ve tried are a single feather, but because these are synthetic they’re actually individual strands which helps them blend into my hair better. I put these in right away and I still have them in 4 days later.

NuMe Feather Hair Extensions

I can’t imagine the crazy colours would work for most people, but since I have purple hair already it looks awesome (or at least I think so! ha!)

Ocean Nail Polish

Ocean Nail Polish in Bare Necessity

I did a quick swatch of this polish for my collection, but I haven’t tried it out on my own nails yet! I also couldn’t find a link to the product online so I don’t even know where you can buy it! It’s a super sheer cream colour which is a little impractical for me, but I’ll find a way to use it I’m sure.

Anastasia Hydraful Gloss

Anastasia Hydrafull Gloss

I’m a big fan of Anastasia brow products so I was interested in trying out this product. The weirdest thing about this product is that it doesn’t come with a brush – it’s actually a little plastic spatula type contraption (very descriptive, I know). I’m not sure if the full product is like this, but I was a little concerned at first. After I put it on I was pleasantly surprised. It’s great! It’s very glossy, but not sticky (which is a lip gloss test of mine). I’m not sure what colour I got, but it was neutral and matched my lip colour. It’s definitely a great for a day time look.

M. Asam Magic Fini

M. Asam Magic Fini

Last but certainly not least, was Magic Fini. I read the insert that came in my package and it gave it this description “Silky formula blends beautifully into your skin to conceal uneven skin tone for a light, matte, natural looking finish. Smoothes away the appearance of wrinkles, enlarged pores and imperfections to reveal a sun kissed, healthy looking skin tone”. It’s essentially a BB Cream. And it changed my life. I can’t even describe how seriously awesome this cream is. I put it on, ran over to my mom and said “Doesn’t my face look amazing. Touch it!” It provides a nice light coverage, and makes your skin feel so soft. Just stop reading my blog and go buy it (but then come back and tell me how it changed your life too!).

St. Patrick’s Day Nail Art

It’s St. Patrick’s Day today, so here’s a fun nail design you can throw on just in time for your party!

St Patrick's Day Nail Art

How to get this nail polish look:

  • Paint your nails a bright green – I used Joe Fresh Lime Juice (unfortunately I don’t think you can buy this online!) and OPI Did It On ‘Em (from the Nicki Minaj collection) on my accent nail
  • Once completely dry you’re going to stamp the diagonal design from Konad plate s6 on your accent nail. I used the Konad special polish in Green for my stamping polish.
  • On all of my other nails I used the little shamrock looking design from plate m81, and stamped it on my nails using the green and white stamping polish. Just place them on randomly and fill up your nail!
  • Once my little shamrocks were on, I put on a gold glitter top coat (not on the accent nail). The gold glitter made the white polish turn  a cream colour which worked out perfectly.
  • Once your glitter top coat is on, you can finish the design off with your favourite top coat!

Earlier this week, I attended the Joe Fresh runway show during Toronto Fashion Week. It was pretty inspiring, so I decided to give Joe Fresh nail products a try!  I picked up 3 nail polish colours, one of them is the green I used as a base in this manicure (on my 4 fingers). I can’t decide if I love or hate this polish…It’s incredibly sheer, I actually used 3 coats and while it looks pretty opaque in the pictures I can still see through it on my nails in real life. On the plus side, it dries rather quickly which makes putting on those 3 coats less daunting. The other amazing thing about Joe Fresh nail polish is that it is incredibly affordable. One bottle is only $4, or you can buy three bottles for $10!

The other 2 colours I picked up are a bright pink and a bright blue – I’m guessing those will be quite transparent as well, but for now I’m willing to give them another chance.
