May 2012 Glossybox

I know it’s the middle of June, and I’m JUST getting around to posting my June Glossybox…but whatever! To be fair, it didn’t show up until the 1st of June anyway.

This was my last month of the Glossybox – the fact that it never showed up on time really bothered me. Here’s what I got:

May 2012 Glossybox

I was happy to see two products from Simple – there has been a huge hype around this line and I was glad I got a chance to check it out.

There was nothing super exciting about this box…Everything was just meh. My mom uses the Sebastian shampoo so I gave her the bottle. The Boxx product was a lipstick brush (who actually uses these? I’m far too lazy to bust out a brush to put on my lipstick).

The Simple products were nothing special either – I use the eye makeup remover on a daily basis to clean up the mess I make while putting on Mascara. I love Kiehl’s too much to switch to the face wash, but this one did the trick. The good thing about the products is that they don’t contain any crazy chemicals. My face hates everything that isn’t natural (and therefore expensive), so the face wash is great as something to throw in my travel bag.

I haven’t used the foot cream, so I can’t report on that. I will try it out, chances are it won’t replace my favourite Avon one!

May 2012 Luxe Box

This month I started a new subscription box from Loose Button called the Luxe Box.

I have to say, my first impression was great! I actually received TWO boxes. The first being the regular monthly box, and then a bonus Bath & Body box.

May 2012 Luxe Box - Body

In the Bath & Body box I received the Venus & Olay razor (which I’ve been looking for in stores and haven’t been able to find!), as well as Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex.

May 2012 Luxe Box

Inside my actual Luxe Box I received another sample of the Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex, 3 perfume samples (including Marc Jacobs Oh, Lola – Hooray!), Fekkai Shampoo, Conditioner and Treatment pack (x2), and a full size bottle of Essie – Camera from the Poppyrazzi collection!

Overall I’m really impressed because this is the first box I’ve received where I plan to use every single one of the products.

The packaging is also great – your box is wrapped up just like any other subscription box but they use a personalized sticker which makes me feel pretty special 😉

May 2012 Glymm Box

May 2012 Glymm Box

Well it’s the end of May, and that means that it’s beauty box time! My Glymm Box was the first to arrive, and compared to last month I’m not as annoyed by it.

This month, Glymm switched from using a box for their packaging to a makeup bag (not pictured, sorry!). It is actually the most useful part of the box for me, and the reason it’s not pictures is because I’m already using it!

I’ve only used the Lip balm so far, and I quite like it. Nothing special, but it’s a light lip balm and leaves your lips feeling nourished.

I’m also a HUGE fan of perfume samples (I seriously have a drawer full of them) – so the CK shock was great…minus the part where they included a “for him” sample. What the heck am I supposed to do with that!

Next month is going to be my last Glymm box. I decided to cancel my subscription because I’m just not getting good use out of my products. I did replace the Glymm box with another, but I will share that with you tomorrow 😉

April 2012 Glossybox

It’s subscription box time!!!

If you read last month’s post, you will know that I was very unimpressed with the box. First of all, it was super late and there just wasn’t anything inside of it that excited me.

This month, I arrived home from work and my Glossybox was waiting for me at the door. I picked it up and noticed how heavy it was – which was my first indication that it was going to be awesome!

I opened it up and I was amazed at what I found inside:

Glossybox April 2012

Here’s what I received this month:

  • Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer – Full size!
  • Elizabeth Grant Skin Care Shower Gell – Full size!
  • Wella Brilliance Conditioner
  • Wella Brilliance Treatment
  • Marcelle Xtension Plus Mascara
  • PLUS a sample of the Marcelle BB Cream!

The first two products alone made the worth of my box over $40! I haven’t used any of the products yet, but Wella is my current hair care brand so I’m excited to try out this line. It’s made for fine, coloured hair – so hopefully it will give me a little boost.

I’m also very excited to try the sample of the Marcelle BB Cream. I keep passing this over every time I go into Shopper’s Drug Mart and since I already have the Garnier BB Cream I haven’t picked it up.

I was just about ready to cancel my Glossybox, but I think I’ll keep it going, at least for another month!

April 2012 Glymm Box

April 2012 Glymm Box Packaging

Well, my April Glymm box arrived last week. I was originally planning on doing a full review like I had done in March…but there literally wasn’t a single product I was interested in using. I expect that in a monthly box, there’s a million products out there, getting samples isn’t easy and you can’t please everyone!

April 2012 Glymm Box Products

This month’s box included:

  • Lucia No 1 Soap
  • Free Your Mane –  Sulfate Free Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner
  • Atelier Cologone – Orange Sanguine Fragrance
  • Mai Couture – Social Gloss (Full Size!)
  • $100 Gift Card to NuMe

I’ll probably give the soap a try eventually, and wear the lip gloss over a bright lipstick (it’s a horrendous light nude colour, but who knows, I may love the formula). I’m always afraid of trying new shampoo’s/conditioners. With my bright hair I never know what’s going to strip the colour. This one is sulfate free though, so hopefully it’s not an issue!

One thing I will complain about this month, is the lack of care in my packaging. Last month, the box was nicely wrapped, filled with paper stuffing, product card was nicely placed. This month, my ribbon wasn’t even cut nicely with little to no paper stuffing. It really doesn’t take that much to ensure your products are packaged nicely, and it makes the world of difference.
