YSL 5 Color Harmony For Eyes Review and Swatches

The YSL 5 Color Harmony for Eyes in #13 – Candy. I purchased mine at Holt Renfrew for $75, and Sephora sells it online only for $58. I first saw this palette in a magazine (sorry, I can’t remember which one), and I instantly knew I had to have it.

If you watched my March Favourites video, you already know my feelings about this eyeshadow palette.

I’m basically in love with it. I think if it were to become legal to marry a product, I would choose this one.

First, let’s just start with the signature YSL packaging:

It’s gold, and it’s beautiful.

Open it up, and things just get better:

It’s hard to tell in this photo, but the green in the middle has YSL imprinted in it. I’ve actually been using this colour and only taking shadow from around the logo so I don’t ruin it.

If you know me in real life, you probably know that I enjoy bright colours. Enjoy is probably an understatement. If I’m not wearing something bright people get concerned. These colours just perfectly fit my personal style which is a huge reason as to why I love this palette. The palette also comes with two double ended eyeshadow sticks, I removed them while taking this picture because I’ve been using them.

Here are some swatches of all the colours:

These are quite dark swatches, I probably put on three or four layers of the shadow just so the colours would appear in the picture. What I love about these shadows is that you can wear them as a sheer pop of colour, or you can layer them and really intensify your look. All of the shadows are quite sparkly as well, which I personally enjoy.

The formula on the shadow itself is great, I haven’t noticed any creasing, even when I don’t wear a primer.

Now…as much as I LOVE this palette – I honestly think the price is outrageous. If Urban Decay, or MAC or MUF or anyone had come out with the same palette and it was cheaper I would have bought that instead. But they didn’t, and sometimes you just have to splurge on things you know will make you happy.

Do you have this palette or any other YSL palette? What are your thoughts? I’d love to know!

Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic Swatch and Review

I think I may have found my new favourite polish! I’d like to introduce you to Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic.

Butter London Primrose Hill Picnic

This is my first Butter London polish – shocker, I know. I was originally avoiding the brand because it’s so expensive, especially in comparison to my beloved China Glaze polishes. I caved. I don’t regret it.

Butter London polishes retail for about $17.00 in Canada, for only 4oz of polish. I purchased mine at Holt Renfrew, but it’s also available at Nail Polish Canada.

This polish had a great formula, and dries quite quickly. After one coat it was opaque, but I went for two coats because I’m a perfectionist. I’ll admit the colour was a bit dull until I added a top coat, but that could just be my own personal preference of liking my nails super shiny. The colour isn’t as bright as my photo makes it out to be, take a look at the edges of my nails and that’s more true to what this colour looks like in real life.

I’m going to try and wear this polish until it starts to chip so I can test it’s staying power. Chips are never usually an issue for me because I change my nails every few days, but I’m sure you’d like to know how long this polish will last you if you’re going to spend $17.00 on it!
